Alumni Observatory
The Alumni Observatory (2019–2021) investigated how academic records and information available on social networks might help analyze the educational and professional trajectories of Ifes graduates.
The technical challenges included collecting and integrating heterogeneous records, finding possible matches between profiles and individuals, and producing aggregate indicators of further studies and professional participation. Namesakes, incomplete names, and multiple profiles make entity resolution particularly uncertain.
The proposal envisaged a tool to support alumni studies. Profile matching cannot be assumed infallible and entails questions of privacy, legitimate purpose, transparency, and data protection. The available project description does not establish that an operational platform or particular data-governance procedures were implemented.
