Alumni Observatory

Alumni Observatory: Automatic Observatory of Ifes graduates via social networks

One of the objectives of the Ifes graduates' policy is to map the insertion of graduates into society, collecting and grouping data of graduates with a focus on their social insertion and, especially, their relationship with the world of work and their continuity of studies. In an attempt to reach a larger sample of graduates, the purpose of this work is to use information collected on social networks to discover such information. This is not a simple task given the unstructured environment of social networks. There are many cases of homonyms, often people do not register with the full name, often the registrations are in the form of a nickname, and often the same person has different identifications in different social networks. Only the task of resolving user identification, without defining a unique numbering such as the CPF, is still an open problem in the research. At the end of the project, it is expected to have a user-friendly interface tool that can store historical data and generate reports on graduates, using data collection from different social networks with crossing information from the Ifes academic system database.
